Rust n Ruins….

Bowman Park has been many a thing in its time. 1850’s pastoral lease, campgrounds, government flora and fauna reserve and more but today it is simply a free 48hr RV park, adventure playgrohnd for kids and function centre with old 1850’s derelict buildings. It’s a shame as it has such potential to be more, think living history re-enactments, film sets. Educational facility, museum or anything.

The major walking trail the Heysen trail runs right through it, and mountain bike trails surround the park.

They do events and busy bees but essentially it is being left to degrade which is a real shame., I’ll let the photos do the talking.

We started today with a hike around the park and up to a lookout up a steep goat track.

Then coming back and hitting the road for a driving day taking in as many little towns as we could, each little hiccup has its own little highlight be it old wrecked cars or beautiful old dilapidated rock buildings, for which this part of SA is full of them. The first town Gulnare was basically in the process of being abandoned, the silos no longer in use and being left to fall apart, the houses being condemned and needing bulldozing, if it wasn’t for the free RV park -campground and one resident artist it would probably not even be on the map.

After that it was small town day, but again I’ll let the photos do the talking

After lunch we said our goodbyes to the Southern Flinders Ranges and headed coastwards and the beginning of the Yorke Peninsula
