The Shakedown Trip

The Shake Down Trip

So we bought a bus, A Renault Master Frenchy thing converted by Jayco into a campervan.. yeah so I know I said I’d never buy another Jayco but we did so there you go!

We had played with it for a few days in the driveway and made a few modifications, (2 USB charge points and a 12V power socket all running of the house battery). So now it was time for our first trip, just an overnighter out to Kwolyin about 3hours from here,

We had something to do Saturday morning, so didn’t leave till about 2pm, still should be there by sunset, the nav system however seemed to think Australians only do 60km/hr even on the highway and had us rolling in about 9pm, so a little bit of panic before thinking “Nah stuff it just keep going”.

As it was we got there just on sunset, and then set up our bed for the very first time, easy peasy kind off, cooked tea and just tried to watch a movie but the eyelids were closing and soon the van was rocking in time with my snoring coming from the back, you know, in with the good air and out with the bad, that sort of kind of stuff.

Then the next day was a drive back again, but via York, a tourist trap and full of people, but we found a footpath to park on and walked around, before making ourselves a coffee before heading off again home, so the trip was small simple and successful, Yep I think we might be liking this new way of touring.

The little bus, as it’s called, is comfortable, economical and easy to drive, not quite small enough to park in a single parking bay, but that’s part of the fun, Jo enjoys driving it as well so now it’s more a 50-50 drive…… can’t wait for the next one!
