About us

We are a couple (Al & Jo) who have spent the past 40 years travelling and exploring not only Australia but the world. Recently we took delivery of our very own campervan!

We have had a youtube channel for a while and have been putting up short videos of our explorations and adventures. You can find us here

But where did we come from?

Well I grew up with the bush on my doorstep, I first went camping aged 3 and for some reason it stuck, more at home in the bush then in the towns, at 13 I was backpacking spending days in the bush doing it “army style” as all my camping gear was ex-army. I acquired a great deal of bushcraft over the next years. Then at 17 I joined the regular army, after that back home in civilian life I had an old series II Landrover, my first 4wd and this opened up new avenues for travel and camping and outdoor fun.

Meeting my wife was a highlight and soon every camping adventure had company to share in the experiences and sights. Over the years we have travelled the world and gone to some amazing places. The set ups that we have owned or used have varied as well but all have been vehicle based. We did a short stint of towing a caravan, but it seemed more of a hindrance than a help to me, I was finding excuses not to tow it, so we reverted back to vehicle based camping. Overseas we spent 4 weeks in a motorhome in New Zealand and always remember being parked up, sitting in comfort having lunch with a view of Mt Cook through the large window in the back. Then later on travelling around Canada at the start of winter in a brand-new Ford F350 ute with a camper pod on its back, an awesome experience and a highlight of our travels.

Our last rig which we still have and love is a Nissan GU Patrol. Modified to enable it as a long distance 4WD outback tourer with the roof top tent, but we are getting older and now in our mid fifties we have gone out and bought ourselves a campervan.
