Yummm

So, as you know from the other posts in this part of the Yorke Peninsular, there is a lot of Cornish influence from the Cornish miners that came to mine the copper.

The best influence by far was the introduction of the Cornish pastie.  Which is a delectable mix of mains and dessert in one.

In Moonta, we had the delight of having a traditional Cornish pastie… at one end is the meat and veg mix, while at the other end is a little pocket of apple pie, all wrapped up in soft, delicious pastry. Ours was served with sauce and fresh whipped cream…. no doubt the miner’s wasn’t.

In the mines, the pastry was the wrapper, and because of the toxins on their hands, the pastry was held, the contents eaten and then the pastry thrown away.

In our case, no such thing occurred and the whole bloody lot was eaten…….. yummmmm
