We arrived in Sydney town just on 4pm, and after transferring to a coach and negotiating the one-way streets around Central Station for a half hour, we arrived at our hotel. Dispatched to the 11th floor, we laughed when we looked out the windows to see the station below, just 600 meters away. We took a stroll to local shops for snackie supplies and scoped out some spots for dinner. Opted for takeout from Spice Alley, which was OK, but couldn’t compete with train food. We then thoroughly enjoyed a long hot shower and a sleep in a non-rattling bed.

Next morning after a huge buffet breakfast we hit the streets of Sydney. Our general direction was the harbour but the route became quite tortuous as we got distracted by greenery or architecture. Finally we spotted the blue of water and found ourselves with an iconic view.

After making our way around the bay, we found ourselves at The Rocks, so more architecture, history and sceneries to absorb so snatched a quick coffee to keep the momentum up before climbing the bridge.

The return trip to the hotel was via the shopping precinct but again we were unable to maintain a direct route as we ducked in and out of alleys, malls, arcades or any other quirky doorways.
Eventually we made it to the hotel bar by 4pm, just in time for happy hour. Having walked 18kms we opted for pub grub and settled in.

New day, another ripper breakie and we headed off again, this time meandering down to the Darling Harbour and the Cockle Bay Wharves. We explored the park and walked over the Pyrmont Bridge before jumping on to our booked harbour cruise, they greeted us with sparkly…Awesome.

The cruise showed us the highlights of the bay, all accompanied by food and wine, seems a recurring theme for the holiday!

Last day, nothing to do but breakie, checkout and head to the airport for our flight back to WA. Murphy’s law the train line to the airport was down so it was a free replacement bus saving us around $40 = Bonus!!
